About this bottle:Marquis de Calon is the second wine of Château Calon-Ségur and features a much higher proportion of Merlot in the blend than the estate’s ‘grand vin’. Calon-Ségur is the most northerly classed growth (3rd) châteaux in the Médoc. Its 55 hectares of vines is one of the few walled vineyards in the Left Bank, overlooking the Garrone river (as the very best are said to do) on a soil of thick gravel and clay. Rich, nuanced and fresh, Marquis de Calon 2014 was produced under the guidance of Éric Boissenot. It is a blend of 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine being aged for 17 months in (3% new) French oak barrels.
